Introduction
The Artificial Intelligence Cluster represents a flagship collaborative initiative designed to advance cutting-edge research, foster innovation, and develop impactful AI-driven solu- tions across multiple domains. Established under the Punjab Higher Education Commis- sion’s R&D Clusters program, this initiative brings together leading academic institutions to create a unified, high-impact ecosystem for Artificial Intelligence research and devel- opment.
As the designated Lead University, Information Technology University (ITU), La- hore plays a central role in shaping the strategic direction, governance, and execution of the cluster. ITU is responsible for coordinating research activities, facilitating inter- university collaboration, ensuring effective resource utilization, and maintaining align- ment with national and provincial priorities. The university also leads efforts in building partnerships with industry, government, and international stakeholders to translate re- search into real-world applications.
The cluster is designed to move beyond isolated academic efforts by creating a co- hesive platform where researchers, faculty, and students collaborate on multidisciplinary projects. It emphasizes innovation-driven research, practical implementation, and the development of scalable AI solutions that address critical challenges in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, governance, and industry.
Through this initiative, the participating institutions contribute their expertise, re- sources, and research capabilities to achieve shared goals and maximize collective impact. The cluster currently includes the following member universities:

- Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan
- Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi
- Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan
Together, these institutions form a strong academic consortium committed to ad- vancing Artificial Intelligence through collaborative excellence, knowledge sharing, and innovation. The Artificial Intelligence Cluster aims to serve as a national model for coordi- nated research, enabling the development of transformative technologies and contributing to the broader vision of a knowledge-based and digitally empowered society.
