Startup Lahore 2018 Helps to accelerate Entrepreneur Activity in Pakistan- Umar Saif
“Startup Lahore 2018” has proved a very fruitful event which not only gave a networking opportunity to young entrepreneurs but it also gave them a platform where they have received feedback that will help them in the future. Dr. Umar Saif Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) said while addressing the most celebrated event of PlanX.
He added that the talks and sessions have been a great learning experience for all, which would benefit the young entrepreneurs across Pakistan to accelerate the Startup activity. PlanX Technology Accelerator, a project of Pakistan Information Technology Board recently organized Startup Lahore, a two-day event that took place at Arfa Software Technology Park
This two-day global networking event was curated to connect startups, entrepreneurs, mentors, speakers, tech companies and media with each other. It provided an opportunity where all entrepreneurial stakeholders were brought together to discuss strategic advantages, challenges and technology based opportunities. The whole event showcased Pakistan’s entrepreneurial landscape in its best possible way.
This was the the second edition of Startup Lahore. The first edition was held in January 2017. The entire two-day event turned out to be a huge success as it was attended by more than 2000 individuals. This included more than 100 startups who came and exhibited their innovative products at the startup exhibition known as Demo Day.
The event also included a startup competition known as Startup Rumble for which more than 400 applications were received. The host team shortlisted 40 startups on the basis of the business plans and viability. Out of the 40 applications, top ten startups qualified for the final round where they competed for a cash prizes worth PKR 350,000.
“Repair Wala”, a startup which focuses on affordable and convenient repair services was adjudged the winner of Startup Rumble followed by Charcoal and Grey, Scholars Den and Virtual Eye. Motwani Jadeja Foundation, Auto Genie, Car Chabi, Grocer App, Finca Microfinace Bank, TCS, Latitude and Millionaire Sayings were the supporting partners for Startup Lahore whereas Careem and FM91 had partnered as the official transportation and radio partners respectively.
