PITB’s “MAC” SYSTEM IMPROVES CLEANLINESS & MAINTENANCE CONDITIONS IN PUNJAB HOSPITALS
Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB)’s developed an android based application, “Maintenance and Cleanliness System” (MACS) for regular checks maintenance, cleanliness and hygiene at public secondary healthcare have shown significant improvement to 80 % cleanliness and 88% maintenance as reported by 44 Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants (MEAs). This was informed in a progress review meeting chaired by Dr. Umar Saif Chairman PITB here today.
Dr. Saif said that the mechanism was required for implementation of standard operating procedures and regulation of cleanliness with the help of random surveys at various hospitals. The dedicated efforts of MEAs have gradually added prominent change in the cleanliness and hygiene scenario of public secondary healthcare across the Punjab, he added. s
The meeting was informed that so far, 6,168 visits have been conducted in 154 hospitals and 164,860 images have been uploaded to the system.
The system provides a comprehensive dashboard through which the management can see hospitals having poor hygiene and maintenance to improve cleanliness and maintenance at public hospitals. The system records the cleanliness and maintenance of wards, operation theatres, labor rooms, toilets, waiting areas, corridors, stairs, emergency rooms, mortuaries and outpatient departments. In addition, pictures are collected as proof so that chances of forgery or fake reporting while submitting data are minimized.
