ITU’s Session on Combating Plagiarism through Turnitin on Oct.19
Despite efforts by Higher Education Commission and universities, plagiarism and other forms of academic cheating is on the rise globally and in Pakistan as well. One of the reason is ignorance in using the appropriate tools and techniques to avoid plagiarism. Information Technology University the Punjab (ITU) is now offering an important session on combating plague of plagiarism through using turnitin software, on October 19, 2017 at 6th floor auditorium from 04:00 PM – 05:00 PM. It is open for everyone. Outsiders need to register at firstname.lastname@example.org for smooth entry to the building.
The session will include to detect plagiarism using Turnitin (online service), how to avoid plagiarism through practical examples and excises in, Paraphrasing, Summarizing, Quoting, and Referencing Appropriately this also includes exercises. It will also be very helpful in understanding the HEC plagiarism policy and interpreting turnitin similarity reports. Resource persons are Dr Muhammad Ramzan, Director QEC and Mr Muhammad Asif Manager Library, ITU. It is worth mentioning ITU is the first team to publish an empirical research on plagiarism in Pakistan.
