Freelancer Factory Open House Conducted at Information Technology University
The first day of Freelancer Factory- a month long traning program developed and held by ITU Trainings- was greatly successful. Over 75 people were in attandence; at least 20 percent of which were women. Freelancer Factory is a training program which aims to empower people by teaching them skills which will allow them to work profitably as freelancers. The program focusses on teaching participants both technical and soft skills; the former include building on the basic computer skills of participants by teaching softwares paltforms like Word Press and the latter is centred around honing participants’ professional skills by coaching them on topics such as negotiation and networking, creating linkedin.com profiles and using skype for professional meetings etc. Freelancer Factory is being conducted by three trainers, two whom- Kamran Shafi & Kamran Zahid- are dedicated to teaching participants techinical skills. Both Shafi and Zahid are certified Word Press trainers while Zahid is also a certified motivational speaker. The soft skills aspect of the workshop is being conducted by Rehan Shaykh who is a Chartered Accountant. Freelancer Factory is open for public attendance during the first three days of the workshop; 9th, 10th and 11th of May. Following this, 40 shortlisted participants will continue the month long training at the charge of Rs. 10,000 per participant.
