Information Technology University (ITU) proudly announces that Dr. Ali Ahmed, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science, has been promoted to Tenured Professor, recognizing his exceptional contributions to research, teaching, and academic leadership.
Dr. Ahmed earned his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech), USA, with groundbreaking work in blind deconvolution and inverse problems in signal processing. He also holds MS degrees in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore.
Before joining ITU, he served as a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Brown University’s ICERM, with his research published in top journals such as IEEE Transactions on Information Theory and IEEE Signal Processing Letters.
At ITU, Dr. Ahmed leads the Signal Processing and Information Decoding Research (SPIDER) Lab, focusing on compressive sensing, low-rank matrix recovery, sparse approximations, and machine learning applications. His work continues to advance computational imaging and signal processing in Pakistan and beyond.
A Fulbright Scholar and HEC NRPU Grant recipient, Dr. Ahmed exemplifies ITU’s spirit of excellence and innovation. The ITU community extends its warmest congratulations on this well-deserved milestone.
