Objectives
The UNESCO Chair for ICTD at the Information Technology University (ITU), established in April 2018, is dedicated to advancing Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICTD) in Pakistan. The Chair focuses on addressing key challenges such as accessibility, adoption, sustainability, and policy development to empower marginalized communities and promote inclusive growth.
Our objectives are grounded in four core areas:
Education
- Delivering high-quality ICT education and digital skills to prepare learners for the challenges of the modern digital age.
Research
- Promoting innovative research in emerging technologies, including machine learning, data science, and blockchain, to support sustainable development.
Community Engagement
- Bridging the digital divide by engaging with unconnected communities through public seminars and fostering collaborations with industry stakeholders.
Policy Development
- Collaborating with government bodies to design and implement effective ICT policies that enhance digital inclusion and governance.
- Through these initiatives, the UNESCO Chair for ICTD at ITU aims to contribute to a sustainable and inclusive digital future for Pakistan, aligning with national development priorities.
