The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at ITU organized a panel discussion in collaboration with the Department of Governance & Global Studies on “Citizen Engagement in Climate Action: Can Local Governments Drive Change?” on Tuesday, June 06, 2023, at Lincoln Corner, Level 2, ITU.

The main focus of the event was how local governments can engage citizens in climate action. Participants learned about the important role local leaders play in mobilizing community involvement to tackle climate issues. Furthermore, the discussions highlighted effective ways to promote collaboration, improve communication, and utilize local resources to create a meaningful change. Our esteemed speakers , Dr. Abiha Zahra (PI – JMMGP), Dr. Khurram Bhatti (PI – JMMGP), Mr. Ahmed Iqbal (CEO Dehleez), and Ms. Aaminah Qadir (Founder She-Her Foundation), presented successful case studies that showcased innovative strategies for empowering citizens to contribute to sustainability efforts, ranging from grassroots initiatives to comprehensive policy frameworks.

The event emphasized the potential of local governments to inspire citizen action, demonstrating that working together can lead to significant climate solutions. Participants left with new ideas for promoting a sustainable future through community engagement.
