Library and Quality Enhancement Cell @ Information Technology University (ITU) is celebrating a full of activities library week from 20th to 23rd February 2017. Love for knowledge and scholarship is the seen an essential element to judge the development of a nations. The universities, their libraries and knowledge centers are playing pivotal role in creating and building civilizations and informed societies. World development and innovations takes place in universities centers of excellence, where libraries and laboratories serve as hub of experimentations and research. It is in this context that Information Technology University under the leadership its Vice Chancellor, Dr Umar Saif has planned this week long activities to promote love for books and knowledge. These events will attract people to read books and magazines and inculcate the reading culture among the masses.

Training on Use of IEEE explore and Scopus on 20th February 2017
The weeklong celebrations will kick start with practical training sessions by A&J Def Tek Consultants Islamabad and their foreign partners. IEEE explore is considered as one of the largest database of engineering and computer science journals, proceedings, books and theses and considered as bible for engineering sciences and technology.
Scopus is world’s largest indexing database of electronic journals and only a few universities in Pakistan and abroad are subscribing to this comprehensive but expensive database. One of our Sciento-metric lab use this database for its research projects. The training will certainly enhance the use of this unique electronic database.
International Mother Languages Day on 21st February 2017
The send day of the library week will focus on discussions on importance of mother languages of the world. Experts from different universities and men of letters will share their views and thoughts during the seminar. School of Humanities and Social Sciences is a major partner for this program. The program will help promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
Research Enhancement Session 22nd February 2017
Day three will comprise of sessions on academic writing and publishing research in scientific journals.. The session will be helpful in preparing, editing and submitting research work in the best research publications. The
session will also cover the entire publication process from identification of publication avenues and tips to handle submission, review and revision process. MIT Technology Review @ ITU is an important partner for this program.
3rd ITU Book Fair 2017 23rd February 2017
keeping in view its tradition ITU Library and Knowledge Center will organize a grand book fair on 23rd of February 2017. Leading publishers and booksellers across Pakistan will exhibit their latest collections; text, reference and general books on Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, History,
Languages, Literature, International Relations, Economics, Politics, Management, Accounting & Finance, Business Administration, Physics, Mathematics & Statistics, and of your general interest. Students and
faculty members can purchase best available books on deep discounted rates and they can also recommend books for the library.
Vice-Chancellor ITU, Dr Umar Saif will inaugurate the book fair. Registrar, Mr Zaheer Sarwar, Director QEC, Dr Muhammad Ramzan, Deans, and Chairpersons, faculty, students and staff will participate in the inauguration ceremony. Publishers has announced special discounts on this occasion.
