It is a matter of pride for ITU to share that cutting-edge research by Data Scientist Dr. Faisal Kamran (Director ITU Data Science Lab) on gender-based violence (GBV) has been selected for prestigious award by World Bank Group and Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI). The research was done in collaboration with Washington DC Think Tank Urban Institue.

The primary purpose of the award is to acknowledge and support cutting-edge research to avoid gender-based violence.

An expert panel reviewed more than 200 proposals submitted to the Bank Group and SVRI for innovations to prevent GBV in low- and middle-income countries. Winning teams, which received up to US$150,000 each, were chosen based on overall merit, research or project design and methods, significance, team expertise, and ethical considerations.

This prestigious award would be given by the World Bank president and regional vice presidents in Washington DC next month.
