As library serves as an indispensable partner in study, teaching and research, Information Technology University (ITU) organized a two day workshop on Library Software (KOHA) in collaboration with Pakistan Library Association to burnish the information competency of its participants. The library staff from different universities including UMT, PIFD, King Edward, Beaconhouse, LUMS etc having hands-on experience on the management software, KOHA participated and disseminated their knowledge to promote digital libraries to provide easy and cost-free access to books.

Dr. Nizamuddin, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) who was the chief guest, shared his views that reading and learning culture should be promoted among society which can be made possible through active libraries. Government of the Punjab is going to establish more than two thousand digital libraries in Punjab in order to provide free access to digital resources, he added. He expressed his approbation to the organizers of the national workshop for organizing this workshop as widespread knowledge about KOHA software would help in automation of all libraries of Punjab. He also appreciated the vision of Dr. Umar Saif, Vice Chancellor to implement IT in all services department i.e library services.

The workshop was concluded with distribution of certificates among workshop participants by Dr. Nizamuddin.
