RESEARCH INTERESTS

His primary research interests are in the areas of computer systems and networking and using ICT for development (ICT4D). His research is multi-disciplinary and spans the diverse areas of algorithms, artificial intelligence, formal-methods, data mining, big-data, cognitive radio networks, cloud computing, software defined networking, internet-of-things, pedagogy and learning, and using ICT for development (ICT4D). He has published a number of peer-reviewed papers in top quality journals and magazines—including publications in IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials (CST), IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communication (JSAC), IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing (TMC), and IEEE Communication Magazine. He has consistently published in top-notch high impact-factor journals and has a cumulative impact factor of more than 35. He is actively involved in the technical community and professional service. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access, Springer/BioMed Central's Big Data Analytics journal, and the IEEE Communications Magazine. He is a member of ACM, and a senior member of IEEE.

Junaid Qadir completed PhD from University of New South Wales, Australia in 2008 and his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from UET, Lahore, Pakistan in 2000. He is joining Information Technology University—Punjab, Lahore in December 2015 as an Associate Professor. Previously, he has served as an Assistant Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (SEECS), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), from 2008 to 2015. He is an award-winning teacher who has been awarded the highest national teaching award in Pakistan—the higher education commission’s (HEC) best university teacher award—for the year 2012-2013. He has been nominated for the HEC best university teacher award award twice from NUST (2011, and 2012-2013). He has 7+ years of teaching experience in which he has taught a wide portfolio of courses in systems & networking; signal processing; and wireless communications and networking. His primary research interests are in the areas of computer systems and networking and using ICT for development (ICT4D). He has served in the program committee of a number of international conferences and reviews regularly for various high-quality journals. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access, Springer/BioMed Central’s Big Data Analytics journal, and the IEEE Communications Magazine. He is a member of ACM, and a senior member of IEEE.
