RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Khan has been teaching in the areas of Financial Management, Corporate Finance, and Commercial Banking. His past research includes co-authoring and editing five books, including Pakistan’s first (and only) Casebook on Corporate Finance; some 30 cases in the areas of Finance, Strategic Finance, and Banking; and some16 articles and chapters in books and journals. His most recent research interests are in the areas of financial support for start-up companies and governance issues in higher education. His work in process includes a casebook on cases in strategic management as well as a book on an Institutional Approach to Managing HEIs in Pakistan.

biography

Dr. Bashir Ahmad Khan has a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He did his DPhil and MSc from the University of Oxford and his MPA with Distinction from the Pennsylvania State University. He has been on the faculty of LUMS for 18 years, where he was also an Associate Dean, and was a founding member of the School of Management at FC College, where he was Professor of Finance, Chairperson, and Dean.

Dr. Khan has worked as a consultant for Pakistani and foreign organizations, as well as serving on the Boards of both the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Askari Investment Management Limited, and Askari Bank Limited, and on the Advisory Panel of the Competition Commission of Pakistan. He is an HEC-recognized supervisor and is a Reviewer for the Annual Young Management Scholars Awards. He has worked with a number of local universities on academic selection panels and on the editorial boards of two journals as referee. Additionally, he has taught financial management at the Civil Services Academy (DMG Group), the National School of Public Policy, and at the Army Staff College in Quetta.

Dr. Khan was a Commonwealth Staff Scholar and a Charles Wallace Trust Fellow.
